Welcome to the memorial page for

Kenneth Edwin ("Ken") McFall

July 26, 1933 ~ October 10, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Kenneth Edwin McFall was born to Raymond and Nannie McFall in Lutts, TN on July 26, 1933. He passed from this life on October 10, 2015 at the age of 82.

Ken grew up and spent most of his life in the North Florence/Petersville area. He attended Appleby Junior High and Coffee High School.

Though not full age, Ken enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years on various bases, much of which was spent at Langley, in Virginia. While there, he met a young student named Betty Parsell. Ken and Betty began a relationship culminating in their marriage on September 3, 1951. This union would produce two sons, Steve and Scott and one daughter, Karen. Ken and Betty also have 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Upon Ken’s discharge, he returned with his young bride and first son to Florence.

Through his career, Ken worked with and for several men for whom he maintained a deep respect. He was a sales representative for Elton Darby at Southern Sash, the first sales manager at Four Cities Imports for John Darby, managed Billy Hensley’s Tourway Inns, was sales manager for Bobby Mitchell’s Chevrolet dealership, and was station manager of WJOI and WXOR radio, owned by Sam Phillips. He remained close friends with these gentlemen as long as they lived.

Ken became an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, was a Washington Redskins football follower, and supported the Alabama Crimson Tide faithfully. He had a special affinity for golf, and while he enjoyed watching televised tournaments, he loved even more playing himself. He was a regular at Sky Park until its closure and played often at Blackberry Trail. He scored a hole-in-one on the 7th hole at Blackberry at age 74.

Ken was active in conservative politics, serving on the governor’s staff during George Wallace’s tenure. He held positions on community groups and within the Republican Party. Ken had many friends and for years was an important member of a group of friends who gathered regularly at Jack’s , and another group who met at Burger King to discuss local and world events and enjoy the friendship.

Above all else, Ken was a faithful child of God attending Stony Point and Peterssville Churches of Christ where he served as a deacon and elder. He has been a member at Jackson Heights Church of Christ the last twenty years. He loved the good people of his church family dearly and prized highly any time spent with them.

Ken was successful in his work career, respected in his community, honored within his church, and loved by his family. He blazed a trail that anyone could follow and in following would live a successful life.

Ken leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Betty Parsell McFall, son, Steve and wife Deborah, Daughter, Karen and husband Jim, son, Scott and wife Becky. Also surviving are the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were brothers, Clifton, Norman and Donald. He leaves a surviving sister, Betty Buttram and husband Jab.

His family thanks all who have so kindly helped us during his illness and passing. Special thanks to the staff at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, to the wonderful nurses at ECM Hospital, to the kind staff at Mitchell-Hollingsworth rehab center, and to the gracious and generous people from Amedisys Hospice Care. Thank You.
