Willodean Atkinson

Willodean Atkinson, 95, of Florence passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1 – 2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother David Cofield officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Harrison, James Riggs, Brandon Riggs, Zachary Lawson, Lyn Price, and J.J. Burford.

Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Atkinson; son, Randy Atkinson; grandson, Steven Atkinson.

She is survived by her son, James Atkinson (Jewel) of Elgin, AL; daughters, Shirley Scanlon , Diane Lawson (Michael) all of Florence; grandchildren, Christy Harrison (William), Tiffany Burford (J.J.), Rebecca Riggs (James), Zachary Lawson, Heather Lawson, Andrea Holt, Dana Kelly (Andy), April Mitchell (Bill); fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Special thanks to her caregivers, Christy Harrison and Hannah Riggs, Hospice of the Shoals nurses, and special friend Lizzy (her fur baby).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Shelter or to the Community Freewill Baptist Church.
