Time seems to rush by so fast! Our deepest sympathies to the family. I fondly remember Karen and her brother Richie when I was a child and we would make the drive to Florence from Pittsburgh to see Aunt Louise and Uncle Herb and the cousins. I also remember her Mom and my Mom being chased by a bull in a field. We've exchanged Christmas cards with cousin Karen over the years and had hoped to make a swing through Alabama and catch up with our relatives but we never quit got around to it. Again, sympathies to the family.

I am so very so to hear about this. Mrs. Thompson was such a great mentor and counselor to me in high school. She told me everything I needed to know about college. The family is in my prayers. She was such a great woman with an amazing spirit. She will be missed.

I am saddened to learn of Karen's passing. I got to know and love Karen through her work with Educational Talent Search. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She came out with Jan Pierce several years to help me do Reality Check with our junior high students (although Lexington School was not her assigned school). This speaks to her giving and generous heart. We all had a wonderful time and I looked forward to them coming each year. She will be deeply missed by all who know her, but most of all her family. Please know you have my deepest sympathy and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this about my first cousin. I had not seen her and Richie since we were in our early teens and since moving back to the East Coast 2 years ago, going to visit them was on my list of things to do. Do not put off spending precious time with your friends and family. We do not know what the Lord has in store for us.

You are all in my prayers today and in the days ahead. If I were anywhere close I would be there for her services, but please know that my heart is with you all. Karen has left a wonderful legacy, and she ran her race well. That's the task left to all of us...and now she knows more fully than ever that JESUS is all that matters. Run toward Him. She will be cheering you on now every step of the way:
"Since we have such a huge crowd of men [and women] of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.

2 Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God." HEB 12:1-2 LivingBible

Today, as I am enjoying a morning cup of coffee on a vacation in the Virgin Islands, I have learned of Karen's recent passing. I am a counselor at Florence High School and had the privilege of getting to know Karen through her work with Talent Search. We had several wonderful conversations with topics ranging from family to the high school students we were working with to life in general. Karen inspired me. She was always positive and didn't spend time dwelling on negative things. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I am saddened to hear of her passing, but I know that Karen is in a place filled with peace. To her family that she loved so much, please know that you are in my prayers during this difficult time of loss.
