It was with regret that I could not attend Dr. Johnson's funeral. I do want to share with you that I had the honor to teach with him at UNA. He was my Department Chair and I found him an easy and accommodating person with whom to work. After I retired, I ran into him frequently in the community. He always greeted me with a bright smile. I am sure that he will be missed by many.

One of the great men I have had the pleasure of knowing in my lifetime. A soft spoken man full of wisdom and charm. I have gleaned from his wisdom and knowledge and will pass it on to others. Your family is in our prayers and thoughts.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Dr. Johnson.
I had the great privilege to study under Dr. Johnson at The University of North Alabama in 1977 (I think) for American History part 2 (Reconstruction to Present).
I recall with great fondness, the conversions we had during and outside of class.
He was truly a kind, highly intelligent, genteel Southern Gentleman.
In the ensuing years I have often thought about him and the impression he made upon me.
Many heartfelt thanks, Dr. Johnson.
