William David Mays

The Funeral Service for William David Mays, 75, of Florence, Alabama, will be 2PM Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Greenview Funeral Home.  Mr. Mays will lie in state from 1 -2 PM prior to the service.  The visitation will be 6-8PM, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Greenview Funeral Home.  The burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Mays was born December 1, 1947, to Buford Lee Mays, Sr. & Nell Luthell Stockton Mays.  He passed from this life September 13, 2023, surrounded by his family.  David was a Mason and worked as a Radiologic Technologist.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Lee Mays, Sr.  and Nell Luthell Stockton Mays; brother, Buford Lee Mays, Jr.; brother-in-law, Theil Whitaker.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonda Carrie Whitaker Mays; sons, Daniel Mays, Todd Mays, Chris Mays of Florence, Alabama; sister, Beth (Steve) Bullock; special sister-in-law, Regenia (James) Little of Corinth, MS;  sister-in-law, Barbara Mays of Florence, Alabama; Angela  Whitaker Parks of Malden, MO; grandchildren, Colby Mays, Brady Mays of Florence, Alabama; special cousin, Bill Mays of Florence, Alabama; nieces, Andrea (Chad) Howell of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Caitlin (Justin) Irvin of Corinth, MS; Erika Whitaker of Malden, MO; nephews, Nathan (Allie) Hyde, Trevor (Amy) Hyde of Florence, Alabama; Justin Whitaker of Memphis, TN; great nephews, Tripp Hyde of Florence, Alabama, Jameson Howell of Tuscumbia, Alabama, August Hyde of Florence, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Chad Howell, James Little, Nathan Hyde, Brad Alexander, Timothy Hicks, and Bill Mays.
