Verbon Tillman Jones, Jr.

Verbon Jones Jr., a lifelong resident of Florence, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 15 surrounded by his loving family. He was a man whose life was defined by faith, family, friendship, and an unwavering love for Alabama football.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Verbo loved his hometown deeply and was proud to call it home his entire life. Whether he was cheering on the Crimson Tide on a Saturday afternoon, watching golf on TV, or sharing a meal with family, Verbo found joy in every moment.

Verbo's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He attended College View Church of Christ since its beginning, and he dearly loved his church family. They brought him strength, laughter, and fellowship over the many years.

Above all, Verbo was devoted to his family. He never missed a chance to support his children and grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop. He was always on the sidelines of a game, in the audience at a musical performance, or bragging about their latest accomplishments. He was their biggest fan, always proud and always present.

Verbo was preceded in death by his parents, Verbon and Jean Jones. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Pam Hill Jones; and his children, Wade Jones (Addy) of Destin. FL, Brad Jones (Sarah), and Libby Joiner (Jeremy) both of Florence, AL. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, Alex Fuller (Blake), Anna Kate Jones (Eli), Tillman Jones (Maddie), Brooks Jones, Maelee Mackey (Jonathan), Hayden Joiner, Cohen Joiner, Carson Joiner, and Baylor Jones. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Gail Johnson (Jimmy), Ande Jones, and Beverly Garner (Phil).

Though he has left this earthly home, his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Roll Tide, Pop— you will be forever missed and always remembered.
