Terry enjoyed playing sports and excelled in his skills performing them. In high school and college he was on the football and basketball teams and possessed remarkable recall of the stats of those games. His keen spatial ability gave him success with golfing and running. As a young adult, he pursued weight lifting with a passion and trained as a body builder. He was well known for physical strength and never said no to anyone needing his help. Physical Education was Terry’s college degree. He had a heart for young people – a deep desire to instill confidence as well as knowledge of the game. He viewed each player with unique value. In the summers, he lifeguarded. On several occasions, he saved children from harm. In the employment world, Terry was a diligent, dependable worker. He worked in the delivery food business for thirty years as a driver or store manager. Eventually in 2006, he opened his own store. Food preparation was always a great delight.
After retiring in 2014, he focused on enjoying his family, watching his favorite TV westerns, and cooking at every opportunity. In his final years, Terry cherished time spent with his wife, sons, and beloved grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, James Cypert Rhodes and Rudy O’Dell Burns Rhodes.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Christian Rhodes; sons, Jeremy Shane Rhodes and Jeffery Christian Rhodes (Candace May Rhodes), all from Florence; brothers, Ralph Rhodes, Dauphin Island, AL, Dennis Rhodes, Summerville, AL, and Tim Rhodes, Florence; grandchildren, Christian Jay Rhodes and Sarah Grace Rhodes, both of Florence.
