Shirley Mae (Benson) Smith

Shirley Mae Smith, 90, Waterloo, AL passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at her home.

Visitation will be Friday, December 19, 2025, from 11-1, at Greenview Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Bumpus Creek Cemetery, Waterloo.  Officiating will be Rev. David Dowdy.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Loyd Smith; parents, Robert and Clara Benson; sister, Nellie Austin (Harvey), Mishawaka, IN, Robbie Michael (Aaron), Florence, and Mary Catherine Bevis (Darrell), Florence; and great granddaughter, Kollins South.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Smith (Lynn), Waterloo, AL, Dexter Smith (Joy), Anderson, SC., Randy Smith (Jennifer), Tuscaloosa, AL, and Brent Smith (Felecia), Waterloo, AL; grandchildren, Scott Smith (Stephenie), Dana South (Todd), Samantha Weems (Andrew), Lindsay Privette (Anthony), Kelsey Ramsey (Cameron), Justin Smith (Kaitlin), Benjamin and Maxwell Smith; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Stella and Savannah Smith; Paisley and Beckett South; Walker Ramsey; Bowen Smith and (Mila Jo Smith, due March 9, 2026) and Roman Privette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Bevis, Scott Smith, Benjamin Smith, Maxwell Smith, Justin Smith, Todd South, Andrew Weems, and Cameron Ramsey.

The family wants to say a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and the Waterloo Volunteer Fire Dept and Chief Kavich, for which she was a member for over 50 years.
