Sandra Swinea

Sandra Pauline Swinea, age 86, of Florence, Alabama gained her victory in Jesus on Friday, August 29, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Sandra was born in Florence, Alabama on May 19, 1939, to parents Elmo Wilson Brockwell, Sr. and Pauline Brockwell. She was a member of the Cross Point Church of Christ, having become a part of that congregation when it met on Darby Drive.

Sandra married Hollis Swinea on August 5, 1956, and they were happily married until the passing of Hollis in July of 2014. She was a full-time mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved collecting rocks and seashells, listening to music and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo Wilson Brockwell, Sr. and Pauline Brockwell; husband Hollis Swinea; and sister Wanda Brockwell Richardson Wesson.

She is survived by her brother E.W. Brockwell, Jr. (Patsy); children: Steven Swinea (Valerie), Amy Bennett (Warren – deceased), and Patrick Swinea (Kristen); grandchildren: Matthew Swinea (Courtney), Michael Swinea (Amanda), Annalaura Wilson (Jack), and Caroline Swinea; great-grandchildren: Caden Swinea, Summer Swinea, Emma Swinea and Hollis Swinea; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Matthew Swinea, Michael Swinea, Kim Richardson, Terry Richardson, Calven Swinea, and Jack Wilson. Honorary pallbearer is Lee Danley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5 from 12:00 to 2:00 at Greenview Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Frank Mills officiating. Burial will be at the Greenview Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and administration of El Reposo Nursing Facility for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Sandra during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the El Reposo Nursing Facility or the Christian Services Foundation, Inc.
