Ruth Yvonne (Simon) Cox

Ruth Yvonne (Simon) Cox, 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her home in Newark, Arkansas. She was born on August 20, 1932, in Pensacola, Florida, to the late Lester D. Simon and Ruth V. (Price) Simon. Yvonne was a 1950 graduate of Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Alabama. She later went on to attend Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Yvonne and her late husband, Willard M. Cox, were faithful members of the church of Christ, and traveled to many different states ministering churches. Yvonne was a selfless woman, always putting other’s needs before her own. She especially loved cooking and baking for others. Yvonne enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was very talented in her craft. She also enjoyed reading books and poetry. She had a strong love for the Lord and for her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ronald Cox (Beth) of Sylva, North Carolina, Donald Cox (Elba) of Altea, Spain, Sharon Smith (Webster) of Newark, Arkansas; and Curtis Cox (Jeanie) of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jesse Cox, Samuel Cox, Alethea (Smith) Prince, Andrew Cox, Sophia (Smith) Fischer, Evan Cox, Eric Cox, Carissa (Smith) Watson, KaCee Cox, and Nona Cox; great grandchildren, Raleigh Cox, Lydia Cox, Moses Cox, Milo Cox, Grace Cox, Caleb Cox, Shepherd Cox, Oliver Prince, Wallace Prince, Amelia Fischer, and Elliot Fischer; sister, Ouita Fay Northcutt; brother, Wayne Simon; and daughter-in-law, Marcy Cox.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard M. Cox; parents, Lester and Ruth Simon; son, Gerald Cox; brother, Desmond Simon; and sister, Mary Nell Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Alabama.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Greenview Memorial Funeral Home, in Florence, Alabama, with David Cox officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Evan Cox, Eric Cox, Jesse Cox, Samuel Cox, Curtis Cox, and Ronald Cox.
