Ramona Fortenberry Farrar, 75, of Florence, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her home.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, James and Peggy Fortenberry; spouse, Gerald Wayne Farrar; daughter, Amber Vaden Delagdo; grandson, Billy Todd Vickery; and brother, John Fortenberry.
She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Lynne Eddy (Clay); brother, James Dennis Fortenberry (Brenda); grandchildren, Ashton Nicole Vickery and Blake Evan Vickery; and great granddaughter, Katherine “Kate” Corble.
After raising her children, Ramona decided to go back to school. She graduated from the University of North Alabama School of Nursing with a BSN degree. She received a job at the Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. Ramona then went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville where she received her Masters as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She taught nursing at Vanderbilt, but her first love was working with our veterans at the Veterans Administration. Ramona loved her work in the healthcare field, as well as, loved her family and animals. She will be missed.
