Mary Alice Caudill

Mary Alice Stutts Caudill, 101, passed from this earth Tuesday, October 2, 2024 in Florence, AL.

She was best known as “Alice” and had the greatest longevity as a member of the Chisholm Hills Church of Christ.  She was an active person in her church, frequented the YMCA for water aerobics, was a Senior Citizen volunteer for 25 years, played cards often and was blessed with many helpful friends.

The kindness extended to her by her friends and acquaintances at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ are a true reflection of Christianity.

Alice was born on September 27, 1923, in Giles County, TN. to Robert Calvin Capley and wife, Mary Louise Meadows Capley who have predeceased her.

Alice was married to James Arthur Stutts on January 9, 1942, until his death on March 22, 1975.  On December 15, 1991, she married Oliver Caudill who passed on January 16, 2002.  Siblings, George Robert Capley and Ruby Mae Capley Smallwood, and her son, James Ronald Stutts have also predeceased her.

She is survived by her brother, Donald Calvin Capley (wife, Joann); children, David Michael Stutts and Paul Meadows Stutts (wife, Jane); grandchildren, Lori Ann Stutts, John Paul Stutts (wife, Misty), and Emily Michelle Stutts; great grandchildren, Hailey Grace Stutts and Ava Christine Stutts.

Her funeral service will be held at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ, 2810 Chisholm Rd., Florence, AL, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.  The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence, AL.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children or Chisholm Hills Church of Christ.  Officiating will be Don Harriman.
