Judge Donald Anderson

Judge Donald Anderson, 87 of Florence, departed this life on December 5, 2025. He was born in Sunny South, Alabama on December 28, 1937. He graduated from Pine Hill High School in Pine Hill, Alabama. After school, he served a tour of duty with the United States Army in Germany. He retired from UPS after 30 years, and then moved to Florence, Alabama in 2002. Don had a heart for lay speaking, having spoken in 30+ churches prior to his move to Florence. While living most of his life in Thomasville, Alabama, he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Pineview Baptist Church for many years. Upon moving to Florence, Don Joined the fellowship of Woodmont Baptist Church and served as deacon and adult Sunday School teacher for many years. Don loved bass fishing and enjoyed many days on the Tennessee River until health concerns made him put it aside. He was a true Alabama fan win or lose. God and family were his heart.

A visitation will be at Woodmont Baptist Church from 1:30-2:30 pm on Saturday December 13, 2025. A funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Dr. Chad Hess officiating.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia King Anderson; parents, Vernon and Zula Anderson; sisters, Dorothy Lowry and Kathleen Pope; and brother, Billie Anderson.

He is survived by daughters, Kim Danford (Tony) and Julie Wilson (Preston); grandchildren, Jeff Scott (Sara), Sara Worley (Collier), and Sam Wilson; great grandchildren, Ava and Whitley Scott and Frances Worley; brother, Vernon Anderson, Jr.; many special nieces and nephews; and close friend, Jean Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Tony Danford, Preston Wilson, Jeff Scott, Michael Russell, Larry Hall, and Jim Franklin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Syd Arrington, Sam Wilson, Greg Hammond, and the Anderson Sunday School Class.

Special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris and the 5th floor staff at NAMC who took care of him during his stay.
