Jon Lion Nevins

Jon Lion Nevins was a loving family man and friend, mentor to many, and a brilliant entrepreneur. He left this world on June 25, 2025 after 88 years of loving life. He was born on February 24, 1937, in Little Rock, Arkansas. After attending McDonogh military boarding school in Baltimore, Maryland for 6 years, Jon enrolled in Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. This is where he entered the emerging field of computer science, and met his future wife, Robin. After marrying, they moved to Raleigh, where Jon earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees in economics from North Carolina University. He was then employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority and relocated to Florence, Alabama. He became a pioneer in computer science through his life’s work, Form-U-Share, a revolutionary computer program he developed which benefited over a thousand users in the fertilizer industry around the world. Jon was a member of the Florence Rotary Club, First Christian Church, and Shoals Interfaith Council. He enjoyed traveling, as well as boating and golfing at Turtle Point Country Club. Jon had 62 wonderful years with his dear Robin who together have been adored by their daughters, sons-in-law, and nine grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Elizabeth Dibble (husband Scott Dibble), Merry Ann Herald (husband Jeff Herald), and Katherine Nevins Moore (husband Fletcher Moore); grandchildren are Scottie, Merry Kathryn, Jon Austin, Luke, Brooks, Sawyer, Robin, Sailor, and Satchel. His dear sister, Merry Helen Hedges, also grieves his death. Passing before him were his wife, Robin Bowman Nevins, and his parents, Samuel and Ola Van Nevins.
