Joe Bennie Cooper

Joe Bennie Cooper, 84, of Florence, AL passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was born on November 22, 1940 to James Maxwell (Mack) and Gladys Cooper.

He was a faithful member of the Petersville Church of Christ.  He was previously a member and deacon at the Cloverdale Church of Christ. Joe was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife of 60 years, Jane Cooper. The two of them spent a lot of time with their children, grandchildren, and a great grandchild. He retired from Reynolds Metals after many years of service. In his younger years, he was a member of the Muscle Shoals Area Street Rods and enjoyed restoring and showing his street rods. He was a member of the Blackberry Senior Golf League and was happy playing golf with other retirees at Blackberry Trail Golf Course. He made 3 holes in one at that course.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Scott Cooper and his parents, Mack and Gladys Cooper.

He leaves behind his children, Terri Riley (Keith) and Mike Cooper (Dolly); grandsons, Rusty Cooper (Kelsey) and Dalton Cooper; great-granddaughter, Reagan Cooper, all of Florence, AL. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Cooper (Peggy), nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 24 from 12:00 – 2:00 at the Greenview Memorial Chapel prior to the funeral service to be held at 2:00. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Adam Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Cooper, Dalton Cooper, Josh Cooper, Zack Cooper, Terry Oakley, and Cecil Myrick, Jr.
