Jimmy Holt Obituary

Jimmy D. Holt, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2026.

He was born on October 22, 1940, and was a graduate of Coffee High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doward and Bertha Guyse Holt, and his twin brother, Jackie Holt.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Balentine Holt, with whom he shared a life rooted in faith, devotion, and family. He is also survived by his three sons, Brian Holt, Brad Holt, and Bart Holt (Lindsey), whom he adored and was deeply proud of. He was lovingly known as “Pops” to his grandchildren: Austin (Mallorie), Sydney, Parker, Claire, Catherine, Carson, Cooper, and Elisha; and his great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Lee, and Ty.

Other survivors include his sister-in-laws, Dot Green and Daryl Lynn Wall; two special nieces, Kelly Graybill and Deborah Hensley, who lovingly cared for their uncle; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jimmy proudly served in the National Guard and spent more than 30 years working as an electrician at Champion Paper Mill, where he was known as a valued, loyal, and committed employee with an unmatched work ethic. He retired from Champion after more than three decades of dedicated service. He was also a longtime member of IBEW Local 558 for over 60 years. Outside of work, Jimmy was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

A longtime member of Cross Point Church of Christ, Jimmy was an active volunteer with the Friendship Center, and it was through his work helping prepare Tuesday morning breakfast for the Carpenter Brothers Ministry where strong friendships were created.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 11:00-12:30 at Cross Point Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 12:30, with burial at Greenview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons, along with Larry McGee.
