James David Lewis, 83, of Florence, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home, to be with his Savior, on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
James was born April 19, 1942, in Cloverdale, AL to C. E. and Beulah Lewis. He graduated from Central High School and went to Tennessee Valley Trade School.
He worked at Coburn Electric for nine years, and for T.V.A. Service Shop for 29 years, where he was a foreman. He has been a member of I.B.E.W. for 29 years. James attended First Free Will Baptist Church for 62 years where he faithfully served.
James was preceded in death by his parents, C. E. and Beulah Lewis; brothers, Howard Lewis and Grady Lewis; sisters, Dorothy Morgan, Lillian Reathford, and Lois Chowning.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Linda Matthews Lewis; sons, Jeffrey Lewis (Amber) and Tommy Lewis (Christine); daughter, Tracey Baker (Ronnie); brother, Owen Lewis (Mary Lou); sister-in-law, Janie Luke; grandchildren, Tara Brown, Tiffany Tucker, Leslie Mathis (Justin), Allison Lewis, Jonathan Lewis (Lydia), Madison Shadwick (Isaiah), Caleb Lewis, Stephen Lewis, Haleigh Lewis, Joshua Lewis; great grandchildren, Jaxon Brown, Linkin Brown, Rowyn Mathis, Wake Mathis, Jacey Tucker, Quinnlyn Casey, and Judah Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, November 21, 2025, from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Florence City Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Mike Crews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
