Harold Beckwith, 74, of Florence, AL sadly passed away on February 20, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and heart disease.
Harold was born to Johnson Beckwith, Jr. and Millie C. Ragland Beckwith on June 14, 1951. After graduating from Burrell Slater High School, he went on to obtain both a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Alabama prior to leading a long and successful career in the telecommunication industry with AT&T.
Throughout his life, he was an active member of many community organizations including the YMCA, participation with Distinquished Men of the Shoals, a troop leader with the Boy Scouts of America, and the Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Head of the Deacon Board.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson and Millie C. Beckwith; sister, Ruth Beckwith; and brother, Johnson Curtis Beckwith, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 46 years, Idena Beckwith, children, Heather Beckwith, Kristopher Beckwith, and Andrew Beckwith (Amelia); two grandchildren, Aundraya Beckwith and Julian Beckwith; sisters Margaret Woods, Anita Pringle, Josephine Ford, and Hazel Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His family will forever remember him as a kind and loving father with boundless patience and an endless supply of daddy jokes. He was the type of man who understood the value of faith and persistence above all else, who taught his children to strive to achieve the best within their capabilities, and who was always present as a calm rock in the storms of life. To his wife he was a loving husband, provider, and friend.
