His civic involvement included serving as President of the Florence Jaycees, a longtime Boy Scout leader for Troop 284, and an active board member of The Gingerbread Players. For over 25 years, he was a beloved presence at community events such as the Alabama Renaissance Faire and Arts Alive, where his “Powell’s Perfect Peanuts” became a local tradition. Jack also founded and chaired the Crohn’s and Colitis Support Group in Florence, helping others through shared strength and encouragement.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. and Bettie Jackson Powell, Jr; grandparents, O.C. and Rilla Morris Powell, Sr., and Grady and Florence Jackson.
