Gloria (Nichols) Smith

Gloria Holt Smith, 90, of Florence, passed away January 1, 2022 at her residence. She was a member of Florence Boulevard Missionary Baptist Church. Our sweet mother loved life and even with all her physical challenges she lived life to the fullest of her ability. She taught ceramic classes, and she loved sitting on the porch looking at her flowers and talking with her neighbors and eating ice cream with Jackie. She enjoyed going fishing and watching Alabama Football and her Sunday ride after church. She always looked forward to Fridays to get her hair styled and going shopping. She loved her family with all of her heart, and looked forward to going to church.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with David Gregg officiating. Burial will follow in Community Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Nichols and Gertrude Thompson; brothers, Leonard Nichols, and Larry and Billy Thompson; and husbands, Ray Holt and Fred Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Holt (Tammy) of Elgin, AL, and Stanley Holt (Judy) of Waynesboro, TN.; daughters, Sharon Zills (Tracy), and Sandra Trousdale (Wayne) all of Florence; sisters, Juanita Shafer, Hazel Richards, and Janice Ranzenberger (Bill); grandchildren, Jerry Coggins, Tony Holt (Karlee), Steven Coggins, Chris Crosslin, Amanda Weeks (Jamie), Loriann Crosslin, and Jason Holt; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Bri, Carlee, Abbie, Hayleigh, Nicholas, Tristan, Johnaleen, Janessa, and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.
