Geneva Aurelia Underwood Woods, age 84, completed her life journey June 4, 2019. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended Stony Point Church of Christ. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 – 9:00. Service will be Saturday at 2:00 at Stony Point Church of Christ with A.J. Gooch, Joe Essner and Jim Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.
She has been awarded her spiritual reward for a life serving her God and others. Knowing she could not carry any material goods with her when she left this world she focused on teaching her family about God and always doing what’s right. She was never ashamed of talking to others about God and their salvation.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved when they could all be together. She was an avid Rook player and always loved it when she could “shoot the moon” and make it. She loved taking road trips with daughters, cruises with family, and trips with Waterloo Senior Citizen Center friends. She loved water activities such as boating, riding the sea doo and, yes, even tubing. She was always up for an adventure.
Geneva will be remembered by all who knew her as a loyal friend that was always ready to help others.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Woods of 49 years; parents, W.M and Aurelia Underwood.
She is survived by five children, Karen Barrett (Tim), Glenna McRight (Conrad), Kent Woods (Delane), Barry Woods (Diane) and Lisa Montgomery (Mike); thirteen grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Nan Darby (Billy), Alice Methvin (Joe), William Underwood (Rachel), Jim Underwood (Precy), Norma Hobson (Don), Mary Murphy Johnson(Danny), Janet Ellett, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Blake Cochran, Josh McRight, Martin McRight, Ben Pierce, Jerrad Woods, Jason Woods and Bradley Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons.
