Geeleda Wynoka Irons

Geeleda Wynoka Irons, 92, of Florence, Ala., passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, in her home surrounded by her closest loved ones. She was a member of Canaan Methodist Church for 62 years. She loved to serve those around her and was a friend to anyone who needed a listening ear or a helping hand. A few of her joys in life were painting, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Canaan Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery.

Wynoka was preceded in death by her husband, Roland (Billy) Irons; daughter, Angela Johns; grandsons, Travis Johnson and Ian Irons; parents, Verta and Dalton Woods; siblings, Reece Woods, Gerald Woods, Duel Woods, Burr Woods, Louise Smith, and Linda Rhinehart.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Johnson (Rufus); Larry Irons (Sheri); son-in-law, Thomas D. Johns Jr.; grandchildren, Andrea Hood (Darron), Thomas D. Johns III (Haleigh), Elle Irons (Michael), Leah Hargett (Blake), Brian Johnson (Connie); great-grandchildren, Averee, Brody, and Lilly Williamson, Evan and Emmett Hargett, and Gabriel, Bradley, Michael, LeighLa, Thomas D. Johns, IV, Jessie Smith (Adam), and Brandi Johnson; siblings, Vella Mae Ezekiel, Margaret Hemric, Laura Bowers, Dalton Woods, Jr. (Barbara), Sylvia Steinhauser (Paul), Cathy Olivo (Angelo); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Darron Hood, Brian Johnson, T. J. Johns, Dalton Woods, Jr., Jackson Freeman, and Thomas Johns.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canaan Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
