Dorothy Sue (Young) Wade

Dorothy “Dot” Sue Young Wade, 93, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, formerly of Florence, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024.  She was a resident of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

The funeral service will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Chester H. and Susan N. Young; brother, Chester O. Young; and husband, Bobby Neal Wade.

She is survived by her three sons and their families, William E. Callahan, Jr., (Beth), Roanoke, VA, Michael Daniel Callahan, Richmond, VA, and Thomas Marshall Callahan, Harrisonburg, VA. Dot had six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Dot was born in Florida and was raised in Sheffield, Alabama.  Dot married her first husband in 1950.  They eventually moved to Harrisonburg, VA. where she worked at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  She moved back to Florence, AL in the 1980’s before returning to Virginia in 2018 to be close to her family.  Dot will be remembered for her humor, her crocheted blankets, and, especially, for her Christmas cookies.

She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
