Densel Earnest Witt, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Martha Witt; children, Greg Witt and Rebecca (Houston) Brown; grandchildren, Ryan (Alexa) Witt, Parker Witt, Witt Brown, and Mollie Brown; sisters, Margaret Blankenship and Martha Sue Hughes; brothers, Vinnis (Joyce), Wayne (Inez), Larry (Charlotte), and Ed (Midge); and sister-in-law, Cynthia (Ted) Achorn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miller and Eula Potter Witt; brother, Gwyneth; sisters-in-law, Linda Witt and Sandra Whitley; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Blankenship and Sammie Hughes.
Densel was a native of Lawrence County and a graduate of Hatton High School and Florence State College. He retired from Champion Paper Mill in Courtland, Alabama after many years of service. A devoted member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon.
He was known for his love of family, his sense of humor, and his adventurous spirit—always ready for a road trip, cruise, or “Ramblin’ Road Trip” with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, telling jokes, holidays with loved ones, reading his Bible, and dining at Cracker Barrel. He also had a passion for John Deere tractors, beekeeping, and fixing things around the house.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Witt, Parker Witt, Witt Brown, Houston Brown, Glen Achorn, Lyn Blankenship, and Tim Smith. Honorary pallbearers include the men of the Forever Young class at Forest Hills Baptist Church and Lee Jancar.
Densel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
