Debra Chapin Obituary

Debra Annette Barnes Chapin, 59, of Florence, passed away March 12, 2024.

Debra spent her life caring for others. She was a dedicated mom, grandmother, daughter and sister, devoted teacher, and loyal friend. Debra was a Christian whose unwavering faith guided her throughout her life. She was a member at Cloverdale and Hendrix Chapel Churches of Christ. Her kind, generous and loving nature towards all people contributes to the immeasurable legacy she leaves behind.

For decades, Debra served the community through her work with children across area nurseries, pre-schools, and beyond. She loved her students at Play World, Little Angel, and Underwood Pre-K. Affectionately known as Mama Debra, she impacted the lives of hundreds of children and families with her love and care.

Debra’s selflessness and heart for service lives on her children who, in lieu of flowers, ask for contributions to the Debra Chapin Memorial Account where donations will be collected to fund the work of local daycare programs, pre-schools, and pre-k programs that were an integral part of Debra’s life’s work.

Donations to the Debra Chapin Memorial Account can be made at all Listerhill locations, mailed to Listerhill Credit Union, 4790 East 2nd Street, Muscle Shoals, Alabama 35661, or through the Memorial Account GoFundMe page.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Wayne Wood and Mark Sain officiating. Burial will follow in Cloverdale Church of Christ Cemetery.
