Carolyn Peggy (Frederick) Pirkle

Carolyn Peggy Pirkle, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at her home. 

Peggy was born on February 10, 1934, in Russellville, Alabama.  She graduated from Russellville High School and attended Florence State Teacher’s College (now UNA). 

Peggy was married to the love of her life, Tommy, for almost 67 years.  She and Tommy were founding members of Woodmont Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, In-Service Ministry, and numerous other committees.  She was passionate about the Prayer Garden and spent several years, working tirelessly, to restore it. Peggy was the epitome of grace and devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

A private burial will be held at Greenview Memorial Park, with Greenview Funeral Home directing.  A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Woodmont Baptist Church Chapel with the Reverend Chad Hess officiating.  The family will receive friends and visitors from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the Worship Center lobby.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; her parents, Aldrich and Maggie Frederick; her sister and brother-in-law, Jo Anne and Joe Harrison; her sister-in-law, Antoinette Pirkle; her brother-in-law, Guerry Pirkle; her father-and mother-in-law, Willis Andrew and Claudia Pirkle; and her grandson-in-law, Jordon Cassady.

She is survived by her children, Jania Pirkle Harp (Ted), Debbye Pirkle Hibbett (Chip); Tommy Pirkle (Pam); and her grandchildren, Chris Harp (Lindsey), Lisa Mellon (Steve), Kari-Kay Cassady, Regan Harp (fiancé Amanda Thomas), Thomas Hibbett (Caitlin), Reece Hibbett (Carrie), Parks Pirkle, and Tait Pirkle; her six great-grandchildren – Alys, Amelia, and Ann Eastman Harp; Mackenzie and Olivia Mellon, and Andrew Cassady; her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lyle Day; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Pirkle.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ricky Irons and Sally for their devoted and compassionate care.
