Barbara Moomaw Obituary

Barbara Ann Joiner Moomaw, age 81, went home to be with the Lord January 30, 2025. The memorial service for Barbara will be Saturday February 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Washington Park Baptist Church, 201 N. E. Broadway St. Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Officiating the service will be Bro. Ted Vafeas, Pastor Daniel Dulaney, and family friend Bro. Kenny Baskins. Visitation will be after the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park, Florence, AL.

Barbara was the last surviving child of Mary Rebecca Palmer Joiner and Robert Turner Joiner who preceded her in death. Others preceding her in death are her sisters, Christine Joiner Montgomery (Ajell), Lorene Joiner Baskins, infant sister, Betty Frances Joiner (age 2), and brother, Howard Joiner.

Survivors are husband, Jimmy David Moomaw; daughter, Tonya Moomaw Payne (Steve), grandson Justin (Baily) Payne, sister-in-law Jane Joiner and grand-dog Jack, who has brought her so much joy.

Barbara was an active member of Washington Park Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending the services.

Barbara was a graduate of Waterloo High School, class of 1963. She enjoyed cooking and canning vegetables out of their garden and vegetables from the Amish farms in Tennessee. She also enjoyed helping her daughter, Tonya, teach the 2nd grade girl's class at Highland Park Baptist Church.

Barbara looked forward to trips to the Smoky Mountains with the family and grandson, Justin. After Justin grew up she and Jimmy continued their trips until 2021 when her health prevented future trips. Afterwards they enjoyed just riding in Lauderdale and Colbert Counties and the pig paths of Wayne County TN. while listening to Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music.

After retiring from ECM Hospital in 1995, Barbara received much enjoyment preparing for Tonya's wedding.

Barbara and Jimmy owned and operated Barb's Babyland (baby furniture) in Florence for several years.

Barbara's last message would be come see me in my new mansion. I'm "Just a Sinner Saved by Grace".
