Barbara Alice Bilstein, 76, of Florence, passed away on February 19, 2025, peacefully at her home. Barbara grew up in Florence, Alabama, and graduated from Coffee High School in 1966. She graduated from St. Vincent’s Nursing School, receiving her RN degree in 1970. She was the RN supervisor for Florence Hospital for many years and later worked at Hospice of the Shoals until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Barbara was known for her quick wit and unbelievable compassion for her patients and friends. She enjoyed farming, hunting, reading, baking, cooking, and her Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Roberta Bilstein and her two brothers, Robert Thomas Bilstein, III and Lawrence Huston Bilstein.
She is survived by her sister/best friend/caregiver, Teresa Bilstein Boggan and her nieces and nephews, Robert Thomas Bilstein IV, JoHelene Patrick (Shawn), Charles “Chip” Boggan (Christie), Richard Bilstein (Charlotte), Lauren Moore (Josh) and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11 a.m. Father Jonathan Howell will officiate her service. Her burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Robert Bilstein IV, Chip Boggan, Richard Bilstein, Robbie Boggan, Shawn Patrick, Josh Moore, and Rob Talcott.
