Obituary

Ann May Oakley, 86, of Florence, passed away August 29, 2023 at her residence. She was a member of Petersville Church of Christ and a supporter of the United Cerebral Palsy Center.

Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2023 from 11-1 p.m. at Petersville Church of Christ. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.  The service will be conducted by her Grandsons.

Mrs. Oakley was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Oakley; father, Clyde May; mother, Eula Wesson May; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Howard, Mrs. Mary Ruth Grisby, and Mrs. Fay Masterson; and brothers, James K. May, Clyde Richard May, and Charles D. May.

She was survived by her sons, DeWayne Oakley (Monica), and Terry Oakley (Marsha) all of Florence; sisters, Linda Mitchell (Wayne) and Levon Darby; grandchildren, Chad Oakley (Valerie) of Florence, Tara Oakley Thompson (Sam) of Decatur, Colby Oakley, Jonathan Oakley (Emily), Eric Oakley (Sarah), Austen Oakley (Bailey) all of Florence, Trent Tiffin of Tuscaloosa, and Brock Tiffin of Muscle Shoals; great grandchildren, Foster, Jack, and Molly Ann Thompson, Scott Oakley (Lexi), Lily and Silas Oakley, Denton and Will Oakley, and Dean and Clyde Oakley.

Pallbearers will be Chad, Jonathan, Eric, Austen, Colby, and Scott Oakley, Trent and Brock Tiffin, and Sam Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers are Billy Wooten, Dwight Wooten, Wayne Mitchell, Jack Masterson, Charles Watkins, Andy Griffith and elders from Petersville Church of Christ.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful ladies that have shown such great devotion in caring of Mother in the past 6 years: (current) Peggy Crosslin, Joyce Wright, Deanna Reynolds, Cheryl Middleton, and Kay McMullan.  Past caregivers: Ann Schultz (deceased), Patsy Davis, Glenda England (deceased), Brenda Craig, Karen Barrett, Holly Eck, Shirley Scott, Angie Polk, Michelle Goldy, Patricia Hicks, Uncle Billy and the late

 Aunt Shirley Wooten, Gloria Danley, Andy and Sherry Griffith. Also, thanks for all the cards, visits, prayers, and phone calls from everyone.
