Amy Winston Stockard Holt (96) passed away on May 20, 2025. She was born on April 1, 1929, in Johnson City, TN, to Naomi Coblentz (Coby) and Nat Winston. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Coby Stockard Brubaker; first husband, Eugene (Bud) Stockard; brother, Dr. Nat Winston; and 2nd husband, Fred Holt. Mrs. Holt would say how fortunate she was to have loved and been married to two wonderful men during her life. She is survived by daughter, Libby Jordan; son, Eugene M. Stockard III; son-in-law, David Brubaker; grandchildren, Coby Stockard Kutcher (Andres), Stephen Winston Watts (Jessica), Jay Lloyd Brubaker (Michelle), Nathan Stockard, and Lilly Stockard. She is also survived by children, Fred Holt (Gypsy), Don Holt (Molly), Maryalice Davis (Mike), Judi Fess (Greg), and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Holt was a graduate of Vanderbilt University where she met her husband, Bud. Moving to Florence in 1957, they became part of the intricate fabric of the community. Mrs. Holt served on numerous civic, historic, and educational boards and received a Master’s of Education degree from Florence State University. She retired from the Florence City School system where she taught 7th and 8th grade Geography and History at Appleby and then Hibbett. Mrs. Holt’s greatest reward and true passion was teaching, encouraging, and inspiring young students’ lives. She had an unending positive attitude, a sincere love for others, and enjoyed a keen sense of humor that never failed to put a smile on students and adults alike.

There will be a graveside service at 10:00 on Saturday, May 24 at Greenview Memorial Park.
