He was born on November 22, 1957, to Alvin Lorenzo Alston, Sr. and Tommie Lee Wright Alston in Munford, TN, who preceded him in death. After Alvin graduated from Munford High School in 1976, he went on to study at Heritage Christian University (formerly known as International Bible College) in 1976. After graduating with an Associate of Arts (1979) and a Bachelor of Science (1982) in Biblical studies, Alvin actively started working in the Lord's vineyard as a faithful servant and dedicated gospel preacher by conducting campaigns, evangelist work, gospel meetings, summer series, VBS, and anywhere that was needed for the work of the Lord up until his last day here on earth.
As a young man, Alvin had many talents, one of which was the ability to draw anything he put his mind to, and he was known in school as a good artist. He also had a talent for singing, which was showcased at an early age. Alvin used his singing ability by joining his high school chorus, and at graduation, he sang the song "My Living Shall Not Be In Vain." This motivational song would follow him through the next phase of his life when he left Munford, TN, to embark on a new journey with the Lord by attending college in Florence, Alabama. Here is where he totally dedicated his life to being an obedient servant to God by studying and actively working for Him.
Alvin's adult life started with Heritage Christian University (formerly known as IBC), where he studied God's word in depth. He also participated in various campaign evangelist work while in school and shortly after graduation attended missionary work in the Philippines and Jamaica, conducting campaign evangelism in the mid-1980s. During the early 1990s, Alvin became an instructor at Madison Academy in Huntsville, Alabama, for approximately four years, teaching the subject of Bible. Alvin has taught Bible, baptized, and preached to many people throughout the brotherhood and remained a faithful Christian until the end.
