Alta Louise Tippett

Alta Louise Tippett, 84, of Florence, passed away on June 14, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her children.  Visitation will be at Greenview Memorial Chapel Monday, June 17, 2019 from 10 am to 12 pm followed by a service at noon with Bro. Henry Melton officiating.  She was a loving mother, mawmaw and great mawmaw.  She was a graduate of Coffee High School.  She retired from the Lee Company as a supervisor.  

She was an avid fan of the Crimson Tide and enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball with her son Darryl and watching golf with her son Danny. She also loved traveling with her daughters and granddaughter, taking trips to Las Vegas, New York City, Savannah, GA., and many trips to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. On all of her travels, and at home she was always inseparable with her youngest daughter and best friend Sherri. She was the rock of her family and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Tippett, Jr; parents, Birdie Henson Johnson and Bennie Henson; brother, Herrold Henson; son-in-law, Tommy Mabry, Jr; and her precious grandson, Michael Thomas Mabry.  

She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Tippett Mabry and Sherri Tippett; sons, Danny Tippett and Darryl Tippett; granddaughter, Melanie Mabry Lovelace (Brandon); great grandchildren, Mabry Laine Lovelace and Mary Michael Lovelace; sister, Fredia Blalock and brother Franklin Henson (Maxine); and all her nieces and

nephews. A heartfelt thank you to her niece Angela Blalock Keeton who prepared all those special meals for the family during her aunt’s extended illness. 

Pallbearers will be Brandon Lovelace, Randy Blalock, Stephen Henson, Art Carnes, Larry Keeton, and Jody Tippett.

The children would like to express their appreciation to Amedysis Hospice with a very special thank you to Kristen Allen and Leca Hutto for the loving care of their mother.  Also, a thank you to her lifelong physician Dr. Robert Mann.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association and the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement.
