Roger Lyle Allen, 87, of Florence, passed away April 13, 2019. He was a member of the Lions Club; a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict; and an Honorary Deputy Sheriff of Lauderdale County.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Thomas Allen, and Dr. Carl Gebhardt officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyndal and Thomas Allen; sisters, Lois Barbour, and Lila Allen; and a grandson, Benjamin Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Moore Allen of Florence; son, Larry R. Allen of Moulton; daughters, Debra Green of Tallahassee, FL, and Laura Hughes of Richmond, KY; sons-in-law, Darwin Green and Gary Hughes; daughter-in-law, Marie Allen; sisters, Rena Berry, Marilyn Allen, and Shirley Romine; grandchildren, Thomas Allen, Matthew and Terri Green, and Garrison, Rachel and Sam Hughes; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Addison, Angelica, and Ava Rose Allen.
Active pallbearers will include: Steve Allen, Matthew Green, Darwin Green, Gary Hughes, Garrison Hughes, Ray Atencio, Sr., and Mike Berry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Moore, Robert Glasgow, Albert Heaslett, and Mike Lenz.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florence Alabama Lions Club or the Wounded Warrior Project.
