Oscar E. Franck

Oscar E. Franck, 83, of Florence, passed away on September 25, 2017 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He was employed for 43 years with the Alabama Department of Revenue in the property tax division.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Franck served as treasurer for the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years. He was a proud man that loved his faith, family and his work. His interests were varied, and as a younger man, he enjoyed success in writing songs for FAME Recording Studio and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. His songs have been recorded by many artists. He also enjoyed the martial arts holding black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. by Father Roy Runkle.  Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Franck was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Parilee Franck, and sister, Jeanette McClure.

Survivors include his spouse, Barbara Hayes Franck of Florence; daughter, Valerie Franck Dorr (Dana) of Carlsbad, N.M. and grandson, Morgan Dorr (Caroline) of Starkville, Mississippi.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dana Dorr, Morgan Dorr, Derrick Franck, John Franck and Hector Franck.
