Welcome to the memorial page for

Opal Oliver Flannagin

April 9, 1935 ~ October 3, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Opal Oliver Flannagin, 82, of Florence, passed away October 3, 2017 at ECM Hospital after a brief illness. She attended Fairview Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2017 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Flannagin and Rev. Phil Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Flannagin loved her family and friends dearly. She made sure to keep in touch with those she cared about, both in her own family and in her circle of those she knew -- a gifted conversationalist. She was a fabulous Southern cook who would never let you leave hungry; fried apple pies, roasted pecans, banana pudding, and homemade biscuits were her specialties.  From home-cooked meals to homemade quilts, intricate doilies, and conversations on the porch drinking sweet tea, she left a mark on this world that wasn't loud or extravagant, but was most certainly felt by so many who will miss her dearly, and she loved her husband and her Lord with all her heart.

Mrs. Flannagin was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Edna Oliver; son, Roger Flannagin; granddaughter, Kristi Flannagin; sister, Ethyl Horton; and brothers, Lyndom, Jimmy, and Jearld Oliver.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billy Joe Flannagin; sons, Phillip Flannagin (Carla), and Kevin Flannagin (Pam); daughter, Sandra Flannagin Morgan (Allen); brother, Harvey Oliver; sisters, Ocille Johnson, Syble Tidwell, and Mavis Monk; grandchildren, Jennifer McCurry (Wes), Caroline McCoy (Loren), Kelli Templeton (Matt), Ben Morgan (Melinda), Kati Hammons (Michael), Kelsi Crane (Daniel), and Kasi Flannagin; great-grandchildren, Lilly Kate and Cole Collins, Gray and Will McCoy, Ella, Selah, Elise, and Liam Templeton, Addy and Ben Hammons, Emma Crane, and Nora Morgan.

The family extends a deep felt appreciation to all of the ECM Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff in the ER, ICU, and 6th Floor Palliative Care. Your compassion, kindness, and care meant so much to us, especially Dr. Tim Ashley, Dr. Rodney Soto, and Dr. Loren McCoy. We are so grateful to all of you.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
