Nellie Crittenden

Nellie Wear Crittenden, 94, of Florence, passed away on December 08, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and Mt. Zion’s Ladies Quilting Ministry. She was a cafeteria worker at Wilson High School, an alterations clerk at Rogers, and a homemaker.

Visitation will be at Mt. Zion Church of Christ from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Christ on December 12, 2018.  Sonny Owens and Robert Huffaker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Crittenden was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Junior Wear, and Paul Crittenden; parents, Albert and Ollie Heupel; sons, Edwin Earl and Horace Edward Wear; daughter, Julia Ann Wear;  six brothers, and four sisters; granddaughter, Shelia Clemmons; grandsons, Michael Wear, Shane Wear, and Infant Butler; and great-granddaughters, Chelsea Wear and Haley Mauldin.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Dale Wear (Carolyn) and Gary Randall Wear (Pat) all of Florence; daughters, Sandra Nell Butler (Ray) of Florence; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Wear; step-children, Donald Crittenden (Betty) and Johnny Crittenden (Terri Sue) all of Muscle Shoals, and Gerald Crittenden (Sara) of Tuscumbia, and Shirley Hunter (Doug); twenty-three grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Wear, Tracey Wear, DeWayne Wear, Jeremy Wear, Randall Wear, and Lee Butler.

Sammy Givens, Stanley Givens, Greg Clemmons, Jarod Hovater, and Jason Bridges will serve as honorary pallbearers.
