Mr. Nathan Leon Rippey, Jr., 75, of Florence, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Rippey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired in 1997 after 35 years of service with the Florence Electricity Department. He loved watching old westerns, Bama football, girls softball, working on automobiles, motorcycles, and lawn mowers.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 11-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Rippey was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Mae Rippey Smith and Nathan Leon Rippey, Sr.; sister, Mary Joyce Rippey; and a special pet, Skitter.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rebecca “Becky” Rippey; daughter, Shala Coburn Hanback (David) of Florence; sons, Michael Rippey of Florence, and Keith Rippey of Athens; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sgt. David Hanback, Richard Pickens, Scottie Campbell, Tommy Jones, Sammy Stockman, and Matt Deleon.
The family would like to thank the nurses of 2nd west at E.C.M. Hospital, Dr. Stephen Phillips, Dr. Felix Morris, Kindred Hospice, and nurses, Anthony and Jamie for their gentle care during the past few weeks.
