Nadine Butler, 86, of Florence, passed away March 28, 2018 at ECM Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Butler was a 1949 graduate of Coffee High School and received her RN degree from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Birmingham. She was a surgical nurse at ECM Hospital; and later employed with TVA Yellow Creek, Browns Ferry, and at the Infirmary of UNA. She enjoyed working in her yard, loved all animals, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 9-10 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with her grandson, Jason Olive officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her husband, Leon “Buddy” Butler; parents, Bennie and Opal Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Butler Thomas (Gerry); grandchildren, Jason Olive (Magen) of El Dorado, AR, and Benjamin Olive of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; great-grandchildren, Ben and Mary Claire Parker; special cousin, Carolyn Wells; and special friend, Bobbie Mitchell.
Gary Olive, Larry Olive, Wiley Coats, Jerry Mask, Jerry McDaniel and Malcolm Wilkes will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. McFall, and Dr. Morris for their special care through the years. Also, to Green Oaks staff and caregivers, and 5th floor staff of ECM Hospital, especially the Palliative Care group and Gwen in respiratory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Northwest Alabama Spay and Neuter Assistance (501c3) in her memory.
