Mary Etta (Witt) Sharp

Mary Etta Witt Sharp, 74, of Florence (Central Heights), passed away at home on March 29, 2018. She was a long time member of Glendale Church of Christ where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Mary was a 1962 graduate of Central High School where she was voted “Prettiest Girl” of her senior class. She was a dedicated caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and an inspiration to all and she would try to lift anyone’s spirit who was having a bad day. She was a hardworking, loving, and caring person to all and never met a stranger. Mary was a fine Christian example to all who knew her and a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

She loved planting flowers, giving life and making her home beautiful.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 11-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Joel Caudle and Ben Siegel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Etta Witt; brothers, Virgal, James, and TC Witt; sisters, Ruth Grigsby, Carolyn Wallace, and Ila Jean Wallace.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years, Cecil Sharp; daughter, Melinda Daniel (Chris); son, Jeff Sharp; grandsons, Dylan and Devan Sharp; sisters, Betty Olive, Dorothy Greene, Francine Young (Sonny), Diane Cypert (Richard); brother, Danny Witt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving family and friends.

Special thanks to Kindred Hospice of the Shoals, Anthony, Jamie, Fred, Stephanie, Joloyce, Kristy, Whitney, and to Sybil Barton and Martha Riddle for their long hours of loving care. Thanks to Craig Witt for all his help and encouragement to Mary and our family.
