Ila Jean (Witt) Wallace, 84, of Whiteville, TN, passed away Wednesday January 3, 2018, at Saint Francis Hospital, Bartlett, TN.
Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 12:00 Noon -2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Joel Caudle and Chris Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Jean, as she was known by her family and friends, was born on March 13, 1933 in Florence, Alabama. Native of Lauderdale County, one of 12 children. She graduated from Central High School in 1950. She married Glenn D. Wallace on June 9, 1951 and moved to Memphis, TN of the same year. She was a dedicated and loving wife for 44 years until her husband Glenn's passing in 1995. Jean was a former employee of Sears Crosstown Catalog Plant where she worked as a teletypist and she was also a former employee of Saint Francis Park Hospital where she worked in the Patient Accounts Department. She was a kind, loving Christian woman who was a member of the Church of Christ. In 2014, Jean moved to Whiteville, TN, where she lived with her son, Roger, and grandson, Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Dorman Wallace; parents, Clyde and Etta Young Witt; two sisters, Ruth (Witt) Grigsby and Carolyn (Witt) Wallace; three brothers, Vergil Witt, James Witt, and T.C. Witt; and grandson, Nicholas Sean Robertson.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survived by her daughter, Glenda Jean (Thomas) Crossno of Memphis, TN; two sons, Roger Lance Wallace of Whiteville, TN; and Dorman Rick Wallace (Rumyana) of Plovdiv, Bulgaria; five sisters, Betty Olive, Dorothy Greene, Mary Sharp, Francine Young, and Dianne Cypert, all of Florence, AL; brother, Danny Witt of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Victoria Wallace of Memphis, TN; Elizabeth Wallace of Bartlett, TN; Andrew Wallace of Memphis, TN; Rachel Clark of Memphis, TN; Kimberly Graham of Huntingdon, TN; Melanie Crossno of Memphis, TN; Clinton Wallace of Eads, TN; Jacob Wallace of Whiteville, TN, Holly Hamlin of Memphis TN, and Heath Robertson of Jonesboro, AR; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved very much.
Pallbearers will be Clint Wallace, Andrew Wallace, Craig Witt, Chad Witt, Doug Olive, Jr., Greg Kilborn, and Shane Addison.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Wallace, Roger Wallace and Danny Witt.
