Ernest Edward Haygood, Sr., 85, of Florence, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017. He was a member of Harrison Chapel Methodist Church, Killen Lodge (Free and Accepted Masons) #788 for over 50 years, Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Board, UNA Sportsman Club, retired from Ford Motor Company as a Quality Control Analyst, and he was a U.S. Air Force-Korean War veteran.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.
Mr. Haygood was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mamie Haygood; brother, Namon and wife Shirley Haygood; and a grandson, Quintin Ray Keeton.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Haynes Haygood of Florence; sons, Ernest E. Haygood, Jr. of Florence, and Alan B. Haygood and wife Lisa of Killen;grandchildren, Chase Haygood of Florence, Ashley Dotson of Florence, and Leah Haygood Marshall of Florence; and great-grandchildren, Karlee Livrett of Lutts, TN, and Rylnn Dotson of Florence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Elliott, Billy Gambel, Max Dotson, Larry Mabe, Sonny Taft, and Pat Ray.
Ernest was a loving husband and father loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed!
His family would like to extend special thanks to the Florence Firefighters, Shoals Ambulance Service, and ECM ER staff for their hard work, love, and support.
