Mrs. Dorothy Jean Gautney Meyer, 92, of Florence, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the North Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Birmingham and moved to Killen as a child. She was a member of St. James UMC, a member of the Circle of Hope and Life Wise. Jean worked at IFDC, Michigan Abrasive, Ingram and Cloyd Veterinarian and was a substitute school teacher at Weeden.
Visitation will be Monday, May 27, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. James UMC with burial to follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Dean Bowers and Rev. Chris Weldon. The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Meyer is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Laura Gautney; husband, Joseph R. Meyer, Sr.; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Emily Clark; grandson, William Blake Clark; sister, Bessie McCabe; five brothers, Larry, Elmer, Lindon, Robert, and Glenn Gautney,
She is survived by her son, Joseph R. Meyer, Jr, (Joan); sister, Mattie Lane; son-in-law, Danny Clark (Connie); three grandchildren, Randy Meyer (Susan), Drake Clark (Chenoa), and Rena Busby (Stephen); 6 great-grandchildren, Nathan Rich, Maylie Clark, Lillie Meyer, Ben Busby, Dominic and Ellis Clark; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Meyer, Drake Clark, Danny Clark, Stephen Busby, Nathan Rich, and Ralph Holt.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Kasmeier, Larry Gautney Jr., Russell Gautney, David Wright, Dr. Ralph Aquadro, Charles Meyer Sr., and Bobby Gautney.
