Carolyn Ellis Brotherton, 81, of Florence, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 13, 1936 in Wren, AL to the late Travis and Viola Ellis. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she taught 1st grade Sunday School and WEE School for many years. She loved serving God, her family, her friends and others. She also enjoyed being a member of the Forest Hills Garden Club and the Ladies Community Bible Study.
Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. John Brock and Rev. Chris Underwood officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Brotherton and sisters, Audrey Gregg and Helen Tarter.
She is survived by a son, David Brotherton (Norma); daughter, Kaye Trousdale (Jim) and grandchildren, Sean Brotherton, Kati Trousdale, and Kelsey Trousdale all of Florence.
The deacons of Highland Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Patrick Daugherty, Dr. David Brown, Columbia Cottage, and Kindred Hospice.
