Carl "C.W." Chandler

Carl Chandler “C.W.” 83, of Florence, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 10, 2019.  Carl was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence for 55 years. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1953. He served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-LA for four years during the Korean War.  He retired from TVA Browns Ferry after serving 38 years as an Electrician. He was a member of IBEW 558 for 47 years. Carl was a diehard Alabama football fan, proudly wearing his houndstooth hat, and football shirts.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home from 1-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park with military funeral honors at graveside.

The joy of his life was his grandchildren, Abbie and Denton Chandler. The best of times was watching his children and grandchildren play sports and the fellowship with friends at games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Harrison Chandler and Gay Nell Chandler; sister, Bonnie Sue Chandler.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Chandler, just recently celebrating 60 years of marriage; sons, Karl David Chandler (Mira) of Knoxville, TN, Anthony Chandler (Cindy) of Florence; daughter, Amanda Carol Chandler Grimes of Whiteland, Ind.; brother, Danny  Chandler; sisters, Phyllis Hamilton and Judy Smith; grandchildren, Abbie Raye Chandler and Denton Harrison Chandler all of Florence.

Serving as pallbearers will be Denton Chandler, Barry Marshall, Jay Raynor, Michael Sanderson, Kevin Chandler, and Michael Vinson.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Clemmons, Glenn Austin, and Harry Austin.
