Welcome to the memorial page for

Annie Ruth (Bailey) Dixon

November 19, 1940 ~ June 24, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Annie Ruth Dixon, 76, formerly of Florence, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of June 24th, 2017, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Ruth resided in Hanahan South Carolina with her husband Larry Dixon.  Ruth passed away peacefully at home, comforted by her husband and daughters, who were committed to caring for her until the end.

Annie Ruth Bailey was born in Iron City Tennessee on November 19th, 1940.  She was the oldest daughter of Joe and Ollie Bailey.  Annie Ruth grew up on a farm with four brothers and one sister.
Ruth often recalled how hard, but rewarding, it was to live on a farm.  She worked alongside her siblings to help out her father and mother.  Ruth could drive a tractor better than any of the Bailey boys.  The days were long but the family was rooted in faith and love.  Ruth graduated from Collinwood High School.
While in high school, Ruth met Larry at church and the two fell in love.  Ruth married Larry on May 7th, 1960 and they settled outside Florence Alabama.  Ruth loved being a homemaker and mom to Myra, Vonda, and Brock. She was an excellent southern cook, able to put a spread on the table in the blink of an eye.  Ruth had a sharp mind and started a successful Tupperware business, driven by her gift for hospitality.

Ruth never met a stranger and this ability to connect was the key to her success. Ruth could call a wrong number and before she got off the line, have a Tupperware party booked. She and Larry traveled to Hawaii and Mexico with Tupperware and to many conventions around the nation.
Larry and Ruth retired back to Florence, Alabama after many years in Atlanta.  She became actively involved at First Free Will Baptist church and loved singing in the choir.  Ruth adored being a grandmother and her and Larry made many trips to visit children and grandchildren around the country.  Ruth’s strong faith remained with her until the end.  Although her memory failed, she never forgot her Lord and Savior.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ollie Bailey. She is survived by her sweetheart and husband of 57 years, Larry Dixon; her three cherished children, Myra (Dixon) Anderson, Vonda (Dixon) Garrett, and Brock Dixon; her precious grandchildren, Jessica (Anderson) DeZinna, Julia Anderson, Kayla (Anderson) Perez, Chad Roberson, Shawn Garrett, Kevin Garrett, Georgia Dixon, Bailey Dixon, and Faith Dixon; her sweet great-grandchildren, Johnny DeZinna,Lucas DeZinna, Isabella Perez, Caroline Perez, Elizabeth Perez, Rachel Garrett, and Sam Garrett;  brothers Emerald Bailey, Roy Bailey, Deloyd Bailey, Billy Bailey; sister, Judy Coffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
