Mary Linville Obituary

Mary Ann Harbour Linville passed away on April 6, 2024 and met her loving Savior - what joy! We know Daddy was there to meet her with other family members and friends. She was born on April 16, 1941 and was raised in Lutts, TN. Her father passed away when she was 8 years old. Not too long after that she learned to cook for the farm hands and family when her Mother broke her leg, giving her instructions from the bed.

As a newlywed, she worked at the 3 C Grill in Florence - formerly located on the campus of the UNA. Later in life she worked as a physical therapy aide at Colonial Manor Hospital in Florence.

Her love of art began at an early age making paper dolls and a doll out of a flour sack. They didn’t have much, but they were happy. She attended Collinwood High School, TN. She met Ray there and they were married for 61 years. They went through life’s ups and downs together, but truly loved each other.

Mary was previous member of the Garden Club (she loved flowers and had a green thumb) and the TN Valley Art Center and current long time member of the Shoals Artists Guild. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and in 1970 won the local Home Extension Club Homemaker of the year.

Mary started taking art lessons when she was 34. As she got older she took workshops from a variety of famous artists. She taught watercolor classes for many years, painted and studied in oil, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, pastels and mixed media. She also enjoyed doing a wide variety of crafts: crocheting, embroidery, sewing clothes for herself and her children, quilting and designing her own quilts without a pattern, woodcarving, photography, ceramics, making pottery on a wheel and stained glass. Other things she enjoyed were: Mexican Train Dominos, Rook, Canasta, Corn Hole, and loved singing karaoke with family and friends.

She was a member of Magnolia Church of Christ and a great example of a Christian. Also, a very compassionate and generous person, loved life, loved to have fun, a wonderful Mother and Grandmother, always there and showing all of us love. She loved cooking for others and she was a GREAT cook. She loved her Magnolia Church Family and made blankets, crocheted baby booties, caps and hats for the diaper giveaways.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Harbour; mother, Mary Andra Wilkerson Harbour; brother, James Harbour; brother, Tom Helton; husband, Rayburn Roger Linville and other family members.

She is survived by: son, Phillip Linville, Florence, AL; daughters: Malinda Linville Baggett (Mike) Florence, AL and Andrea Linville Gray (Jeff) Florence, AL; brother, Franklin D. Harbour (Alice) Lebanon, TN; grandchildren: Bradley Baggett, Florence, AL and Kade Gray (Erin), Kingsport, TN.

Visitation will be at Magnolia Church of Christ, Florence, AL on Friday, April 12, 2024 visitation from 11am - 1pm. Funeral begins at 1pm. Burial at Greenview Cemetery, Florence, AL. Minister Grant Azbell and Billy Ray Warren. Pallbearers: Dennis Smith, Jerry Arthur, Larry Young, Bradley Baggett, Tony Alexander, Doug VanDyke. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Baggett, Jeff Gray, Gary Shannon, Buddy Somers, Rodney Methvin and Franklin Harbour.
