Virginia Lee (Hart) White, 83, passed peacefully from this earth on September 22, 2016, surrounded by her children after an extended illness.

Virginia, or Gin as she was fondly called, was born on September 25, 1932 in Florence, Alabama to the late Joseph Henry and Minnie Myrtle (Austin) Hart.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold B. White; sister Nora Ford; brothers Melvin Hart, and Joe Hart all of Michigan.

Virginia is survived by four children, John (Lou) White of Oxford, AL; Wayne (Jeanne) White; Belinda White, and Roger (Sandy) White all of Florence, Alabama; nine grandchildren; Jason (Montana) White of Orange Park, FL; Brandon Thigpen of Whitsett, NC; Austin Thigpen of Jacksonville, AL; Rhett Thigpen, Bradley Thigpen, Heather Thigpen and Brody White all of Florence, Alabama; Paul White and Stephen White of Lake Charles, LA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

After graduating from Central High School and The Larimore Business College, Virginia worked several years as an accountant for Rogers Department Store until the day she met the love of her life trying to break in front of her at a phone booth.  The couple soon married and during their 33 years of marriage raised 4 children.

Possessing a true servant’s heart, Virginia not only faithfully cared for her family, but continued to care for her cherished mother for over 33 years. Her care did not stop with family but extended to friends and the community through her talent and love of creating delicious and unique creations from the tastiest meals to the most elaborate cakes, confections, and d’oeuvres.  A lady of deep faith, Virginia prayed and studied her Bible daily and could be heard singing hymns throughout the day. She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church serving in many capacities throughout the years.

The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt thanks to NHC Healthcare and staff for the love and care they showed to Virginia.
