Thomas Earl Watkins

Thomas Earl Watkins, 94, of Zip City, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2015 after an extended illness.  Mr. Watkins was a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and was a retired laborer.  He enjoyed gardening and raising goats in his later years of life.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his daughters Elaine White (Dale), and Rita Nichols; stepson Johnny Wayne Urban (Ann); sister, Margaret Bradford and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wives Nancy Adean Victory, and Marjorie Nard; sons, Thomas Earl Watkins Jr., Jerry Watkins, and David Keith Watkins; parents, Perry and Myrtle Watkins; brothers, Bennie Watkins, Bud Watkins, Buford Watkins, Jr. Watkins, and Will Watkins; sisters, Lucille Cummings and Marie Watkins. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home, Florence.  A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery; however, no graveside service will be held. 

The family would like to thank the nurses with AlaCare Hospice, and Home Health for all of their assistance.  In addition, the family wishes to express special appreciation to Janet Kelsoe, caregiver, for going above and beyond the call of duty.   

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charitable organization of your choice.
