Thelma M. Walker passed away Sunday, August 23, at her home in Florence. She was a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Andrew C. Walker, parents: Walton Brown McIntyre and Lena Darby McIntyre; brothers, Walton (Brown) McIntyre, Jr., and Ronald D. McIntyre.
She is survived by daughters, Deborah Jackson (Buford), and Joanne Reeves (Joey); grandchildren, Karie DeVaney Phillips (Brad), Jessica Reeves, and Walker Reeves; great grandchild, Jack Carson Phillips; sister, Dorris Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews, and companions, Glynda Bonner and Kim Brewer.
Mrs. Walker worked in the Advertising Department at the Times Daily, and later in the office of Walker Gin Company. She was a talented artist and avid painter, filling her family’s homes with beautiful oil paintings. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, at two o’clock, at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with interment in Florence Cemetery. The service will be given by Howard McIntyre. Pall bearers will be: Bud Walker, James Walker, Joey Reeves, Walker Reeves, Buford Jackson, Hunter Flippo, Ben Flippo, and Elliott Khansari.
