Susan taught elementary school at Mars Hill Bible School from 1979 until 2000. While she spent most of those years teaching fourth grade, she taught every grade from first to sixth.
She was a lifelong member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. Susan taught Sunday school, and Richard served as a deacon, for many years. They participated in a mission trip to Ireland during the turbulent late sixties.
After retirement, she worked as a volunteer for the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library because of her belief in the importance of reading. She also volunteered at ECM Hospital and worked with Meals on Wheels. Susan and Richard enjoyed traveling and participating in Elder Hostel through Lipscomb University.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel of Greenview Memorial in Florence on Tuesday at 2:00 o’clock, following a visitation period from 11:00 to 2:00.
